President’s Prize (Eunan O’Carroll-Class 1984) Golf Outing

Over 90 Union members and their guests joined the Union President in playing in the President’s Prize outing on Friday the 8th of September last, in Elm Park Golf Club. Despite some appalling rain in the early afternoon, most of the golfers managed to complete their rounds.
The standard of golf was remarkably good despite the conditions, with the following prize winners;

The dinner and prize giving was attended by over 60 golfers, half of whom were junior Union members. The Captain of Elm Park Golf Club, Declan Corcoran attended the dinner as a guest of the Union and welcomed the Union and its guests to the Club.
The Golf Society Captain, Stephen Noonan presented the prizes. There was a fantastic atmosphere, with Alan Rogan & Jake Macken receiving particularly big ovations when receiving their prizes.
The Union Match-play trophy was presented to this year’s winner Gerry McGrath, with Harry Sheridan receiving a prize as runner up.
Union President, Eunan O’Carroll in his first official function since taking office in early June, addressed the room and thanked junior members especially for the participation and their attendance at the dinner. Eunan also made a special presentation to Michael Carew (received on his behalf by Chairman of the Golf Society Jack Gleeson), outgoing Golf Society secretary in recognition of his great service to the society over many years.
The Captain of the Golf Society for 2018 was announced as Tony Connolly, a past president of the Union.
The Society Captain’s charity for 2017, as decided upon by out-going Captain Stephen Noonan, was confirmed as the Vincent De Paul, who will receive €500.
