Ronnie Kavanagh (Class of 1949) passed away peacefully at home on July 13th 2021.

Ronnie, beloved husband of Kay, loving father of Sunny, Rees (1979), Geri and Don (1989). Sadly missed by his wife, children, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, adored grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family, Wanderers RFC, Sandycove SC and many friends.

Under current Government guidelines Ronnie’s Funeral will take place on Friday, 16th July, at 11am in St Patrick’s Church of Ireland, Enniskerry and will be streamed on https://livestream.absentfriends.ie/RonnieKavanagh followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Ronnie was a ferocious operator in the back row winning 35 caps for Ireland between 1952 and 1962. He wore his sporting success with modesty and humility and we were honoured to host Ronnie in Blackrock College last November when he visited an exhibition showcasing his sporting achievements and those of his brothers. Patrick (Class of 1948) played rugby for Ireland and represented Ireland at the 1948 Olympic Games in London (swimming), while his younger brother Gene (Class of 1951) was a noted swimmer and diver. Ronnie is pictured below at Blackrock in November 2020 with his son Rees Kavanagh (Class of 1979)
